dedicated staff members. The Methodologist works within an interdisciplinary
matrix team providing specialized methodology expertise
and leadership
for the planning and coordination of key HCC analytical
deliverables. The Methodologist also supports the development
of new reports, education, and knowledge exchange products
for a diverse range of audiences from clinicians to policy-makers. Duties and Responsibilities 1. In collaboration
with the HCC Operations and Development teams, provides
leadership in the planning and execution
of selected HCC analytical deliverables, in particular
the production of analytical and data quality reports on
the home and continuing care sectors. 2. Provides leadership
for special analytical studies, including collaborations
with other internal or external
researchers. 3. Provides advice and participates in the
planning, development and pilot-testing of education and
knowledge exchange products
to support the understanding and use of HCC data. 4. Coaches
and mentors other team members in the analysis and application
of data for organizational decision support. 5. Develops
and maintains detailed knowledge of Home and Continuing
Care data holdings, and tools used by CIHI to
access these data holdings and perform analyses. 6. Monitors
current practices in the field of health services research
and maintains knowledge of other data sources
within and external to CIHI that shed light on the home
and continuing care sector. 7. Establishes and maintains
relevant professional contacts with various organizational
bodies such as governments,
health regions/facilities, national associations, provincial
analytic groups, and other related agencies. 8. Prepares
reports and background/discussion papers related to assigned
projects. 9. Contributes to the promotion of CIHI
products and services through participation on external
committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, preparation
of articles
for publication and other activities, as required. Knowledge
and Experience •
Graduate degree in epidemiology, health services research,
statistics, mathematics or equivalent combination of experience/education •
Advanced knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical
methods. •
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience
in analytical and/or decision-support activities within
the health care field. •
Substantial experience in managing the production of analytical
reports for clinical and/or policy audiences. •
Strong project management skills. •
Conceptual knowledge of health services and health status
measurement along with a sound understanding of the Canadian
health system. •
Demonstrated ability to synthesize and translate data into
information for non-analysts. Training or experience in
adult learning would be an asset. •
Advanced SAS skills and experience in the use of large
cross-sectional and longitudinal data sets. •
Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills;
outstanding writing skills. •
Fluency in both official languages would be an asset. Interested
