Our Client, the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN
is one of 14 local entities designed to plan, integrate
and fund local health services, including hospitals, community care access
centres, community
health centres, long-term care homes, mental health and
addiction programs and a variety of community support services agencies
within specific geographic
areas.
The NSM LHIN has a population of 422,175 (Census 2006), representing 3.5% of Ontario’s population. It encompasses the District of Muskoka, most of the County of Simcoe and a portion of Grey County. NSM is home to four First Nations. Given its location in and around cottage country, NSM experiences significant seasonal variation in population and demands for related health services. NSM is also an increasingly popular retirement destination.
Epidemiologist / Épidémiologist
As a key member of this high performance team, you will provide decision support as well as data and statistical analysis using both quantitative and qualitative sources to enable the identification of health system priorities. In addition, you will also be responsible for the development of relevant strategies that will result in improved health outcomes and health system performance within the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN.
Following an evidence-based approach, you will bring your expertise in data analysis and interpretation to support health planning. Specifically, you will be responsible for: coordinating and conducting analysis of the local health care system for the purpose of establishing planning priorities; identifying and assessing the impact of planning decisions/recommendations; identifying opportunities for integration initiatives; preparing reports to support health service provider initiatives; developing appropriate methods for monitoring health service provider performance; and monitoring/evaluating integration, performance and coordination outcomes.
Qualifications: The successful candidate
will have post-secondary education at the masters’ level in health
administration, epidemiology, business administration or a relevant field.
You must be experienced in
statistical methodologies and related software (i.e. SAS,
SPSS, etc.); experienced in analyzing and interpreting performance data;
proficient
in research design, bibliographic research, database applications
and meta-analysis.
Your ability to present information and express complex
ideas clearly and effectively to a non-technical audience
will ensure your success in this team environment.
