EPIDEMIOLOGIST/COORDINATOR – CONGENITAL ANOMALIES SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
MEDICAL GENETICS
ROYAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
(TEMPORARY FULL-TIME – UP TO ONE YEAR)

THE POSITION:
The Epidemiologist/Coordinator, Congenital Anomalies Surveillance System (CASS), works in the Medical Genetics department of Saskatoon Health Region. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Health Region staff to manage the implementation of the CASS.

The incumbent will build effective working relationships with management and researchers in a diverse range of agencies both within Saskatoon Health Region and with other partners. Key partnerships include the Department of Pediatrics, Public Health Services, Planning, Policy and Performance, Health Records, Children’s and Maternal Health Services, Medical Affairs, Privacy and Access Office and others working on congenital anomalies and pediatric care.

The incumbent will work with the appropriate Health Region staff to build the CASS in a way that ensures its stability, validity, and sustainability.

THE PERSON:
• Masters in Science in Epidemiology, or Health Sciences with a strong Epidemiology component.
• Training and/or experience in population health research.
• Experience in application of descriptive and quantitative analyses methodology.
• Project management experience and asset.
• Knowledge of epidemiological methodology, especially its application to pediatric care.
• Strong quantitative statistical methodology skills an asset.
• Experience working in a health care setting preferred.
• Experience in data validation and data quality monitoring.
• A self-directed approach to work.
• Knowledge of the Saskatoon Health Region’s environment and its Partner agencies.
• Experience with working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Superior organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills in MS Office and database management.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for use in performance of duties.
